Fusing
Sintering
Metal powders are produced through several production methods
Fusing & crushing
Process: Fusing in arc furnaces, followed by cooling and crushing
Characteristic: Blocky, irregular, dense
Sintering & crushing
Process: sintering of raw materials and crushing
Characteristic: Blocky, irregular, relatively dense
Agglomeration & sintering
Process: Spray drying of a suspention consisting of fine powder, organic binder and subsequent sintering
Characteristic: Spherical, porous, constituents homogenously distributed
Gas atomization
Process: Atomization of molten metal or alloy with a high pressure gas (Ar2 or N2) stream into a chamber
Characteristic: Spherical, dense, high purity, low oxygen content
Water atomization
Process: Atomization with water in a chamber followed by a drying procedure
Characteristic: Irregular, dense, increased oxygen content,
Dense coating
Process: Reduction of a metal salt solution
Characteristic: Blocky irregular composite
Blending
Process: Mixing of 2 or more powders
Characteristic: Different morphologies, segregation possibility
